A Palmerston man faces several charges after police say someone broke into a property here and fell asleep while committing the crime.
On Aug. 27 at about 3:15pm Wellington County OPP received a call regarding a break-in in progress at a rural property on Concession 11 in Wellington North Township.
Police say the owner arrived at the property and saw some of his belongings that were in storage moved to the laneway. He then noticed a man sleeping on a wagon nearby and woke him up.
“The male suspect stood up, concealed his face and fled into a nearby field,” police stated in a press release.
OPP uniform officers set up containment while the county canine unit tracked the suspect to a shed on a neighbouring property.
Steven Boyce, 41, of Palmerston, was charged with break and enter to commit an indictable offence and possession of stolen property under $5,000.
He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
