GUELPH – On April 30, Alan Doyle returned to Guelph at the Cutten Fields for an evening of stories and music in support of youth mental health and wellness, raising over $45,000.
The fundraising event, hosted by The Oak Tree Project on behalf of The Awesome Music Project, featured a night of speeches, songs and storytelling with proceeds going towards youth music programming at The Grove Wellington Guelph sites.
The fundraiser hosted audience members who heard a new Alan Doyle song featuring CxViolet and The New People, with contributions from local youth from The Grove Wellington Guelph.
The lyrics to Until We Find the Sun advocate for support and awareness of current youth mental health and were written in collaboration with local youth, emphasizing their lived experience and finding their voice.
“We are honoured to be the recipients of the funds raised through this initiative,” stated Jeffrey Hoffman, interim executive director at The Grove Wellington Guelph.
“As we work towards providing accessible mental health resources for local youth, the funds raised through The Oak Tree Project event will support holistic wellness programming at our sites.”
Hoffman continued, “We are grateful to be part of this amazing event, and are thankful for the continued support of The Oak Tree Project, The Awesome Music Project, community sponsors, and the generosity of those who supported.”
Guests were also invited to participate in a live auction bidding on special champagne, a one-of-a-kind guitar, an exclusive fine dining experience, backstage concert tickets to an upcoming Alan Doyle concert and more. All proceeds from the event were donated to support programming at The Grove Wellington Guelph.
