The AIDS Committee of Guelph and Wellington County did not win a recent “Worst Website” contest, but gains something just as valuable.
After weeks of community mobilization, the AIDS Committee of Guelph and Wellington County has been in the running to win the title of “Canada’s Worst Charity Website” – a losing title with an enviable prize: a website makeover worth $20,000.
The Guelph community rallied behind the organization. In fact, the support extended across the province, the nation and even the globe.
More than 15,000 votes were sent in favour of the AIDS Committee of Guelph. The competition was stiff and the local AIDS Committee did not win first prize. But because of the impressive community response and hard work of the agency’s supporters, the company hosting the contest, rTraction, decided to offer an incredible second prize: a website makeover worth $15,000.
