AGCO seeks input for racing industry

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) has released a document seeking public input on the regulations, rules and procedures of horse racing in Ontario.

Feedback on the document, Moving ahead: Horse racing regulation in Ontario, is open until Aug. 26.

In April, the AGCO assumed responsibility of the horse racing industry, previously delivered by the Ontario Racing Commission for over 60 years. It is responsible for developing, monitoring and enforcing rules and procedures.

The document has four sections dealing with the integrity, safety and public interest of horse racing, administration burden, economic development and regulatory frameworks.

The AGCO is seeking input on what risks there are to the industry and how it can better provide its services.
