FERGUS – The Wellington Advertiser’s website appears to be back up and running as normal after a couple days of service interruptions.
Staff at the newspaper first noticed the website was down early in the morning on Sept. 5.
At that time, the newspaper’s website host reported “connection issues” affecting multiple servers, which for visitors to wellingtonadvertiser.com resulted in error messages.
The issue was addressed by around noon on Sept. 6, but all items uploaded to the website on Sept. 4 and 5 were lost.
The Advertiser team restored most articles by 1pm on Sept. 6 and hoped to have all items restored by the end of the day.
However, this means several articles will display a publication date of Sept. 6 even though they were originally published a day or two earlier.
Also, any links used in social media posts on Sept. 4 and 5 will no longer work and readers will have to visit the website to read those articles.
The Advertiser apologizes for the inconvenience to readers.
