Acton team wins Ross Tarlton trophy in Guelph

The 82nd Tarlton-Robertson Memorial Masters Bonspiel, which began in 1933, was hosted by the Guelph Curling Club on Jan. 19 and 20.

This could be one of the world’s oldest continuously played annual masters bonspiels, organizers say. Participants in this two-day event were at least 60 years of age.

There were 32 teams (128 curlers) involved in this year’s event. Teams came from as far away as Sarnia, Brampton, St. Catharines, Stroud and Niagara Falls, along with teams from the host club.

A team from Acton, lead by skip Wayne Aitken, won the Ross Tarlton trophy. The other team members are vice skip Jim Henderson, second Mike Schultz and lead Cecil Hookey.
