“Quiet please, reading in progress” will be a familiar sign and phrase for the month of February at Aberfoyle Public School.
School council is excited to announce we are bringing back our “Read to Succeed” read-a-thon campaign which will run from Feb. 1 to 28.
Students raise money by obtaining pledges to reach their daily reading goals. This is a fantastic opportunity to encourage good reading habits and strengthen students’ literacy skills.
Special activities took place at the kick off assembly on Jan. 31 including visits for students from the following special guests:
– Nathan Skoufis, former student and reigning North American Sport Karate Association World Champion
– Jo Ellen Bogart, award winning children’s author
– Sharon Babineau, award winning author and inspirational speaker
School officials would like to thank our major sponsors who generously donated funds to the campaign: Dufferin Aggregates (CRH Canada), St Marys Cement/CBM (Votorantim Cimentos Canada), RLB Group, Tim Hortons Team Aberfoyle, Crunch Fitness, CIBC Wood Gundy and CCL. Without their support, it would not have been possible to bring in the guests, stated officials.
Funds raised from this initiative will be used to improve and enhance Aberfoyle Public School’s library learning commons including the purchase of innovative technologies and supplies.
