HILLSBURGH – The arena in Hillsburgh was closed on Nov. 5 because of a staffing shortage that had nothing to do with COVID-19, officials say.
“This was due to scheduling; it is not likely to happen again,” Jessica Spina, Erin’s spokesperson, said in an email.
The town re-opened all facilities on July 22. This included Town Hall, recreational facilities and playgrounds.
The Hillsburgh-Erin Figuring Skating Club and minor hockey groups have been able to utilize the arenas while following all protocols in place.
Drop-in programming has now started at the Erin Community Centre. As this is a gradual re-opening, drop-in programming at Hillsburgh Arena will begin in December.
Ice went in at both facilities in September, as is usual.
Officials are reminding people to pre-register for drop-in skating programs in both Hillsburgh and Erin at the town’s new portal, https://recreation.erin.ca.
