HARRISTON – “Small Things, Big Ideas” is the theme of the next offering at the Minto Art Gallery.
The Square Foot Show, featuring work by Kitchener-Waterloo areas artists, runs from Oct. 8 to Nov. 7 at the gallery, located on the third floor of the Harriston branch of the Wellington County Library.
“The show is an interesting one as each piece in the show is exactly one square foot in size and we have submissions from over 30 artists from the Kitchener Waterloo Society of Artists,” said Minto Arts Council president Juliane von Westerholt.
She notes in an Oct. 1 press release that the local arts council has been adapting to fulfill its mandate through COVID-19 restrictions.
“Small communities like ours have few resources to bring arts and culture to our great communities and with the pandemic this has been increasingly more challenging,” she stated. “We had to cancel three shows and we are excited to have this next show commencing on Oct. 8.”
The gallery hours have been changed to align with the Harriston Library hours and physical distancing and pre-screening protocols are in place “to ensure the safety of the visitors and volunteers in the gallery, as well as the library staff and public at large,” stated von Westerholt.
