MOUNT FOREST – A familiar voice has joined 88.7 The River.
Mount Forest resident Chris Holden has joined the community radio station’s ranks as program coordinator for local content.
He will be responsible for the station’s spoken-word content; new programming, on-air and off; volunteer recruitment; community engagement; branding and more.
River listeners will recognize Holden as the voice of weekend weather on the River, and co-host of weekly radio show Low Blow Radio.
Holden has a 25-year history in media. He has worked with multiple newspapers across southwestern Ontario, including the Mount Forest Confederate, Arthur Enterprise News, Fergus-Elora News Express, Elmira Independent and Orangeville Banner, and was publisher of the Mount Forest Mirror.
Media experience
“The River welcomes someone with Chris’ media experience,” said station general manager Rob Mattice said.
“He was a natural fit for the position, and the whole community can look forward to the River team taking the station to the next level.”
Holden said he is thrilled to officially join the station full-time.
“I’ve been a volunteer at The River for four years. I love the station, the staff, volunteers and everything this station means to the local community,” he said.
A press release from The River notes the position has been made possible by a grant from the Community Radio Fund of Canada (CRFC).
