MOUNT FOREST – Once again the residents of Mount Forest and surrounding area will have the opportunity to reduce the chance of falling victim to identity theft by shredding their documents.
The 2020 Crime Stoppers Guelph-Wellington (CSGW) Mount Forest Community Shredding Event has been set for Oct. 31 in the parking lot at Wellington North Fire Service Mount Forest station, at 381 Main St. N.
The event will start at 9am and wrap up at noon.
The event allows Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington to increase awareness about identity theft and how easy it is for criminals to obtain personal information.
“Shredding documents ensures private and confidential papers are destroyed. Many businesses also use the shredding event to destroy expired files,” CSGW officials note.
Volunteers will remove boxes from vehicles and participants never have to leave their vehicle.
Each bank box-sized amount of documents will cost $5 to shred, with the proceeds going to CSGW.
“Fundraising is crucial to CSGW as funds are required to pay Tipster rewards and to operate the program,” organizers note.
CSGW expressed appreciation to sponsors The Cooperators – Robert J. Cottel & Associates and Desjardins Insurance – Deryck West Agent in Mount Forest.
