Minto reverting to virtual council meetings

MINTO – The Town of Minto will be returning to virtual council meetings for the next 28 days.

The town, which held in-person meetings in local community centres during August in September, made the decision in response to recent provincial restrictions reducing the number of people permitted to gather indoors.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the guidelines surrounding holding meetings of council have been adjusted to adhere to safety guidelines, the municipality notes in a Sept. 22 press release.

Members of the public are encouraged to submit written delegations and comments in response to agenda items. Anyone who wants to appear as a virtual delegation in front of council is encouraged to contact Minto clerk Annilene McRobb at annilene@town.minto.on.ca.

Details regarding how members of the public can access the meeting will be published on the town website. The public will also be able to watch the recorded meeting on Minto’s Youtube channel.

Town officials say they will continue to “monitor the situation closely, and … provide updates on our response to the guidelines surrounding the pandemic on our website and social media.”
