HARRISTON – Three local youths competed at the district level of the annual Royal Canadian Legion Remembrance Day Literary and Poster Contest.
“Harriston Legion, Branch 296, is very proud of all our students who placed first at the branch level,” branch officials noted in a Sept. 9 press release.
“We were lucky to have three entries continue to the next level Zone C-3 and place first there.”
Winning Zone C-3 allowed the Junior Poem by Calla McLaughlin, the Junior Colour Poster by Brielle Perkin and the Intermediate Black and White Poster by Tabitha Crawford to advance to the District C level.
All three placed at the district level.
McLaughlin won first place with her Junior Poem and her entry was then judged at the provincial level.
Perkin finished second at the district level with her poster. Crawford finished third.
“Congratulations to all three girls for such a great year in competing in the literary and poster contest sponsored by our local Legions,” officials state.
