GUELPH-ERAMOSA – Four units responded to a house fire on Wellington Road 29 on Aug. 21.
Jim Petrik, chief of the Guelph-Eramosa fire department, said the call came in after 4pm on Friday, “and when we arrived, flames were coming through the roof above the house and garage.”
Once firefighters determined no one was inside, they fought the fire from the outside and inside of the buildings.
“It was extinguished relatively quickly,” he said, adding firefighters left the scene around midnight.
“We have to make sure there are no hot spots. That’s really critical.”
Puslinch, Guelph and Halton Hills departments were called in to assist, Petrik said.
Damage is estimated at $500,000.
