WELLINGTON COUNTY – Wellington County’s Taste Real program has launched a new local food campaign for the month of August.
The Taste Real Summer Challenge encourages local residents to engage in staycation-type activities and discover fun outings and food-related adventures this summer.
Farm tours, picnics and patios are just some of the many food and farm adventures and staycation ideas listed on the Taste Real website.
Locals are invited to explore Wellington County’s back roads, shop at farmers’ markets and uncover local food treasures right in their own backyard.
“We have an excellent home-grown food culture in Wellington County,” says economic development committee chair George Bridge.
“While many farms have seen an increase in demand for local food during the pandemic, we know that other businesses, especially in the food service sector, are struggling.”
Bridge added, “The Taste Real Summer campaign is a great way to show support for local businesses and an opportunity to discover exciting new spots close to home.”
The public is encouraged to share photos of their outings, purchases and dishes via social media using hashtag #tasterealsummer.
All photos will be entered to win $200 worth of gift cards to local restaurants.
Participation details and the full line up of experiences can be found at www.tastereal.ca.
