DRAYTON – This year has been full of changes, and the Drayton Terry Fox Run is no exception.
So organizers are urging supporters to join in the 2020 virtual run.
The event, titled “One Day. Your Way,” will be held on Sept. 20.
“We will unite in spirit, rather than in person, as we ride, run, or walk, at the location of your choice, to raise money for an important cause,” organizers state in a July 27 press release.
“This is a momentous year for the Terry Fox Run. Not only is it the 40th anniversary of Terry’s Marathon of Hope, we as a town must celebrate the accomplishment of raising over $500,000 at our Drayton site to date.”
Organizers added, “Our small community has made a huge impact, supporting the advances that have been, and continue to be made by The Terry Fox Research Institute.”
Officials thanked sponsors and participants from previous years who helped make the fundraising possible.
“Our runs would not have been the success that they were without each and every one of you,” they stated.
“Unfortunately cancer is still very prevalent in our world, and we do not yet have a cure, so we must continue the fight, whether individually, or as a team.”
Organizers are urging supporters to register online at terryfox.org/run and select Drayton as their run location.
