WELLINGTON COUNTY – While several Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) parks have reopened for day use and overnight camping, Wellington County OPP officials are reminding visitors to plan ahead.
“Visit the grca@grandriver.ca for the most up to date information to ensure that the destination that you are headed to is open and confirm the hours of operation,” police stated in a press release.
The OPP is also reminding the public that the GRCA property located in Everton by the bridge is private property and not for public use, including the river.
“This area has seen a large increase in visitors resulting in numerous complaints involving trespassing, liquor consumption, parking violations, and excessive noise,” police stated.
“Keep in mind that alcohol can only be consumed in a residence, licensed premise or private place and combining alcohol and water activities along with other prohibited activities is never a good idea.”
OPP officials say police are conducting enforcement in the area and are asking people to obey no trespassing and no parking signs.
“We completely understand that people want to get out and enjoy this beautiful summer weather, but please do so responsibly and lawfully,” stated acting Wellington County OPP inspector Paul Richardson.
