Ontario extends emergency orders to June 30

TORONTO — The Ontario government announced on Wednesday (June 17) that it has extended all current emergency orders until June 30.

“Extending these emergency orders gives our frontline health care providers the necessary flexibility to rapidly respond to urgent needs and protect our most vulnerable,” said Premier Doug Ford.

The orders, which include the prohibition of social gatherings of more than ten people, have been extended several times since first introduced on March 17 at the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

While case numbers for COVID-19 are falling with increased testing levels, Ford said it’s too early to let our guard down.

“We need to keep these emergency measures in place to support our frontline heroes and we must all continue following the public health advice,” said Ford.

While the emergency orders are in place until the end of the month, the province says they will review each order on a case-by-case basis to determine if and when they can be altered or lifted.

The Ontario government is encouraging Ontarians to continue to follow public health guidelines, such as physical distancing and wearing a face covering when physical distancing is difficult.

The province is also encouraging anyone who may have been exposed to COVID-19, or thinks they may have the virus, toget tested.

A full list of emergency orders can be found on the province’s website.
