Jim Baker left this world suddenly, in his 74th year, on Monday, May 25, 2020 in Erin, Ontario, to join his beloved wife, the late Judy (Jongsma) Baker. Jim was father to Daniel (Edison), Matthew (Heather), Nicole (Charles Baker) MacAdam, Karen MacAdam and Melissa (Stephen Lim) MacAdam. He will be missed by his grandchildren Megan, David and Katlyn Sarazin, Tobias and Quinn Valdes and Scarlett Lim and his great-grandson Jordan, his mother-in-law Henny Jongsma, as well as his siblings Don (Eileen), David (Kathy), Cathy (Bert Smith), Gord (Patricia) Baker, and Sid (Heather) Jongsma and Dulyn Kamminga. Jim was uncle to Dylan (Lisa) and Teigan (Kenny) Baker, Ryan (Marybeth), Lee and Alyssa (Ren) Baker, Sean (Paula) and Neil Smith, and Liam Baker, and Robert (Leslie), Kevin (Marlene), Adam (Jennifer) and Luke Jongsma, Kaitlyn (Dave) Tompkins, Steven, Kenny and Michael (Danielle) Smith. Jim was predeceased by his parents Harry and Margaret Baker and his brother-in-law George Kamminga. He was an avid race car fan having spent many Saturday nights of his formative years in the pits at Pinecrest Speedway and later being a spectator at Flamboro Speedway, had interest in the history of the Avro Arrow and was able to strike up a conversation with anyone he met. As a function of the on-going public health concerns in the world today, Jim’s life will be celebrated in a private family service and interment at the Derryadd Cemetery, at Mapleton Twp, ON. A celebration of Jim’s life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Jim requested that donations be made to the Donkey Sanctuary at Puslinch, Ontario (www.thedonkeysanctuary.ca/give).
