GRCA to reopen additional parks on Saturday

WELLINGTON COUNTY – The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) will open five more parks on Saturday (May 30) – including two in Wellington County.

Late in the day on May 29, the GRCA announced the following properties would reopen the next day, from 8am to 6pm, for limited recreational use:

  • Elora Gorge;
  • Luther Marsh Wildlife Management Area (Wellington North/Grand Valley);
  • Brant (Brantford);
  • Byng Island (Dunnville); and
  • Pinehurst Lake (Ayr).

With the openings, all GRCA parks have now been reopened, with the exception of the Elora Quarry Conservation Area.

“At this time, the timeline to reopen the Elora Quarry remains uncertain,” stated the GRCA press release.

Officials are reminding users that all buildings and on-site facilities, including washrooms, gatehouses, picnic areas, playgrounds, and beaches remain closed.

No equipment rentals are available at this time and no garbage receptacles will be available, so visitors are asked to carry any garbage or pet waste out with them.

Visitors without a Grand River Parks membership pass are required to pay by cash (exact change only) in payment boxes located at the gatehouse. Standard entrance and boat launch fees apply.
