MAPLETON – All park open spaces and tennis courts within Mapleton Township, including the already open walking trails, were officially opened on Tuesday.
“We understand that it is very important to get outside during these times and hope this makes it a little easier,” township officials state in a May 19 press release.
“We encourage everyone to practice social distancing as set out by the province.”
The following day the township announced it also opened ball diamonds and skateparks.
Playgrounds and splash pads remain closed for the time being.
Other township facilities remain closed indefinitely, including the municipal administration office, PMD Arena, Moorefield Community Centre, Alma Community Centre, and the Moorefield Optimist Hall.
The administration office phone hours of operation will continue with reduced hours of 10am to 4pm, providing only essential services.
“We continue to praise the community of Mapleton on their cooperation and patience during such unprecedented times,” the release states.
