WELLINGTON COUNTY – Staff members at county libraries have partnered with the Upper Grand District School Board (UGDSB) to produce face shields for frontline workers.
Using 3D printers, library staff are producing components for the personal protective equipment (PPE) to help protect workers against COVID-19.
To date, the UGDSB and its community partners have produced over 1,000 face shields for first responders.
“I’m so proud of our library staff for stepping up and helping produce components for lifesaving PPE face shields,” Warden Kelly Linton stated in an April 8 county press release.
“By using our existing 3D printers, staff are able to help produce critical PPE that is reusable.”
The UGDSB team is producing face shields for:
- Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Fergus;
- Guelph General Hospital;
- St. Joseph’s Health Care Centre in Guelph;
- Stone Lodge Retirement Residence in Guelph;
- Guelph-Wellington EMS; and
- Wellington Terrace Long-Term Care Home in ABoyne.
“The [UGDSB] team concentrates on design, production, community outreach and delivery,” states the county press release.
“The team will continue to produce PPE face shields for as long as there is a need.”
