HARRISTON – The Grey Wellington Theatre Guild has announced the postponement of its spring production.
The production of the comedy Five Alarm was set to open April 17. However on March 13, the Town of Minto closed all recreational and cultural facilities, including the Harriston Town Hall Theatre, the guild’s base, until at least April 6.
“It will come as no surprise that we have made the difficult decision to postpone our spring performance of Five Alarm from April 2020 until a later date for the safety of the actors and the community in general, in an effort to help stop the Covid 19 virus outbreak. Our rehearsals have been suspended but our actors are still working on their own so that when we are able to proceed, we will be ready to give an outstanding performance,” stated guild president Peggy Raftis.
Depending on developments, the guild has tentatively made plans to stage the production in mid-June.
The guild is still currently planning to stage its 11th annual Summer Youth Production with casting and show dates to be set once things are more settled.
