PUSLINCH – A Puslinch man has been charged with sexually assaulting a Cambridge girl.
On Jan. 24, Wellington County OPP responded to a report from a neighbouring police force about an alleged assault.
Police say a girl from Cambridge was sexually assaulted at a residence on Townline Road in Puslinch.
A 44-year-old Puslinch man was charged with sexual assault on a person under 16, sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching on a person under 16.
He is to appear in Guelph court on March 3.
“This case is considered isolated as the perpetrator was known to the victim,” police stated in a press release, adding the accused will not be identified in order to protect the identity of the victim.

Another sexual assault
ERIN – A Guelph man is charged with sexual assault following two alleged incidents involving an employee at a group home here.
Wellington County OPP officials say that on Feb. 3, a female employee at the home, located on the 1st Line in Erin, told police she was sexually assaulted on two separate occasions by a co-worker in the fall of 2019.
Robert Doug Root, 51, of Guelph, was charged with two counts of sexual assault and is to appear in Guelph court on March 13.

Men charged in Puslinch robbery
PUSLINCH – Police have charged a Brampton and an Etobicoke man in connection with a robbery here last weekend.
On Jan. 25 at about 11:20pm, Wellington County OPP officers responded to a robbery at a business on Brock Road South, just north of Highway 401 in Puslinch Township.
Police say two people with their faces concealed entered a store and threatened an employee while demanding cash.
“The suspects stole a quantity of cash and cigarettes prior to fleeing the business on foot,” police stated in a press release, adding the incident was captured on video surveillance.
On Jan. 26, another policing organization arrested a number of suspects involved in a similar robbery, with two matching the description of those involved in the Puslinch incident.
Hasan Hassan, 18, of Etobicoke and Dahir Kheyre, 19, of Brampton, are charged with robbery with intent and disguise with intent and will appear in Guelph court on March 3.
Serious Highway 6 crash
WELLINGTON NORTH – On Feb. 1 at about 7:45pm emergency crews responded to a serious head-on vehicle collision on Highway 6 just north of Wellington Road 17.
Police say the driver of the southbound vehicle was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. The driver of the northbound vehicle was uninjured.
The cause of the collision was being investigated by OPP Technical Collision Investigators. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision can call 1-888-310-1122.
Assault, weapon charges
FERGUS – On Jan. 29 at about 10am Wellington County OPP responded to an assault at an apartment building on Gordon Street here.
Police say someone tried to get through the security door and assaulted a resident who was trying to stop the would-be trespasser. The suspect fled on foot prior to police arrival.
Police received reports from neighbours in the area of a suspicious person passing through yards.
Officers located and arrested the suspect on Sideroad 15, near the 5th Line, West Garafraxa.
Police say a search of the suspect uncovered a prohibited edged weapon and an altered government-issued cheque.
Ryan Jacob Robert Amaral, 30, of Elora, was charged with assault, possession of a prohibited weapon, falsification of documents with fraudulent intent, and breaching a weapons prohibition order.
He is to appear in Guelph court on March 3.

Bus ‘disturbance’
PUSLINCH – On Feb. 1 at about 2:45pm Wellington County OPP responded to a disturbance on a Go Transit bus while it was stopped at the terminal on McLean Road in Aberfoyle.
Police say an intoxicated rider assaulted a fellow passenger and was threatening others.
“The rider exited the bus and was attempting to board a second bus when they were arrested and taken into custody by police without incident. No one was injured,” police stated in a press release.
Shawn Welch, 35, of Kitchener, was charged with assault, uttering threats and causing a disturbance. He is to appear in Guelph court on March 6.
