Dorothy Eliza Reid (nee Sutherland), of Mount Forest, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, November 28th, 2019 in her 94th year. Beloved wife of the late Elwyn Reid for 49 years. Mother of Ross and his wife Elizabeth (O’Brecht) of Southampton, Robert and his wife Jennifer (Clunas) of Durham, and Sharon and her husband Gary Martin of Cochrane. Much loved grandmother of 7 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Mabel and her late husband Eldon Deacon, Shirley and her late husband Bert Ysinga and sister-in-law of Jean Sutherland. Predeceased by parents George and Daisy Sutherland, brother Milo and sisters Pearl (Bakalar) Hannon and Ethel Marshall. In addition to parenting, Dorothy was an elementary and secondary school teacher, a painter, a poet, entertainer, horticulturist, and a 19 year award-winning member of Toastmasters. She enjoyed her many friends, taking morning walks, watching figure skating and playing euchre with family. Friends may call at the England Funeral Home, 294 Main Street South, Mount Forest on Saturday, December 7th from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00pm. A memorial service celebrating Dorothy’s life will be held at the Mount Forest United Church, 175 Queen Street East, Mount Forest on Sunday at 2:30pm. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to Mount Forest United Church or Cancer Patient Services would be appreciated by the family.
