Dear Editor:
RE: Misrepresentation, Oct. 24.
In his letter published, Justin Langille of the Wellington Water Watchers accused Nestlé Waters Canada of misrepresenting its employment numbers in a July advertisement.
He also implies that Andreanne Simard, Nestlé Waters Canada’s Natural Resources Manager, misrepresented the company’s employment numbers at the 2019 Canadian Water Summit in May.
At Nestlé Waters Canada, our success depends on our employees, and we are proud to be one of the largest manufacturing employers in Wellington County.
The claim in the ad was not, as he suggests, a misrepresentation, but a mistake.
As soon as the error was recognized, we followed the Wellington Advertiser’s protocol and placed an ad to correct this mistake in the Sept. 19 issue.
It read: “In a previous ad, we stated we are the largest employer in Wellington County. While we are one of the larger manufacturing employers in the County, we are not the largest. We regret this error. – Nestlé Waters Canada.”
In regard to Dr. Simard, she did not, in fact, misrepresent the number of our employees; the numbers she gave on May 30 were correct at that time.
As has been documented in this publication, we at Nestlé Waters Canada regretfully reduced our workforce this year. As with many businesses, our total employee numbers fluctuate; they are not “simple,” as the author says.
We welcome all inquiries about our operations in Wellington County. If readers have any questions that they would like clarified, please email us at questions@waters.nestle.com.
