KENILWORTH – Wellington North is looking forward to a new doctor coming to Arthur.
On Sept. 23, council agreed to an update to the sublease tenancy at 110 Charles Street in Arthur, above the library.
On April 1, 2008, the township entered a 20-year lease with the County of Wellington for 4,600 square feet of space at the facility for health services.
A report to council noted the lease allowed for subletting to tenants engaged in the health services profession.
Over time, minor changes to tenancy and additional occupants were added.
The most recent tenants entered into a five-year lease agreement with the township, expiring on Dec. 31, 2023. Those tenants included:
– Mount Forest Family Health Team (MFFHT);
– Impact Physiotherapy and Performance;
– Thomas Landoni Medical Professional Corp.; and,
– Upper Grand Family Health Team.
Since then, several changes were requested and brought forward for council’s information:
– Impact Physiotherapy increasing dedicated leased space (taken over from MFFHT); and
– terminating lease with Landoni Medical Professional Corp. and agreeing to a lease (remaining term, identical space) with newly-formed Arthur Family Practice Associates, which is comprised of Dr. Landoni, and new physician Dr. Paul Jones.
Mayor Andy Lennox said he wanted the item brought up to illustrate the success of local doctor recruitment efforts.
“A new doctor has moved into this facility. We certainly have a need for doctors in the community and hopefully this will be a successful arrangement for years to come,” said Lennox.
Council authorized the CAO to make the changes.
