MOUNT FOREST – Get set for fireworks, special events and more at the Mount Forest Fireworks Festival this weekend.
On July 18, bring your best moves to the 70s’ Retro Roller Skate at the Mount Forest Sports Complex from 5 to 9pm.
This event coincides with the Get Yer Hillbilly On Ribfest from 6 to 9pm at the sports complex.
Net proceeds will be donated back to the community in memory of Bill Walker.
On Friday, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 134 is hosting a hospitality tent as the midway gears up at the festival park from 6 to 11pm.
Parking and gates open at 6pm for admission to the park.
Friday night also includes a demolition derby along with a Power Wheels derby for kids.
On Saturday, the Fireworks Festival Classic Car show is in downtown Mount Forest from 7am to 3pm.
The morning begins with the firefighters pancake breakfast from 7 to 11am with a fireworks breakfast of ham, eggs and pancakes served from 8 to 10:30am.
The morning also includes a food truck rally from 8am to 3pm while a free water filling station will be available beside the TD Bank from 8am to 2pm.
In addition, the Mount Forest Museum and Archives annual used book sale is from 9am to 3pm. Live music will be at the 88.7 The River Stage and the awards stage from 10am to 2pm.
Axe throwing will be available from 10am to 2pm downtown and from 3:30 to 8:30pm at the festival grounds.
At 11:30am, Cindy Cook from the Polka Dot Door will be at the Awards Stage while a Mascot Race is set for 12:15pm.
At 1pm, car show awards are to be given.
Cook will again be at the food court at 1:30pm.
Festival car show T-shirts are available for a minimum $10 donation to the Mount Forest Splash Pad.
An electronics recharging station is next to the library for those needing a break to recharge their Android or Apple devices at a fast-charge station.
A motorcycle show and shine is also downtown outside the Legion from 9am to 3pm.
At the festival park grounds parking and gates open at noon.
Take flight in a helicopter ride to get a different vantage point of the community between 10am and 8pm.
The midway continues from noon to 11pm while the beer garden operates from 2pm to 1am.
At the fireworks venue, a water refilling station will be available from 3 to 11pm.
The food truck rally moves from the downtown to the festival grounds to operate between 2 and 11pm.
A burnout competition is slated from 3 to 4pm.
For those needing a break, an electronics recharge station will be on the festival grounds from 3 to 11pm.
The mega truck tug-of-war begins at 5pm.
Meanwhile, the Legion chicken dinner runs from 5 to 7pm.
R&R Pet Paradise is holding a Power Paws show from 6 to 6:30pm.
And 10pm marks the start of the fireworks.
Events continue on Sunday with frisbee golf, touch a truck and more midway activities.
The day also marks the third annual soap box derby from 1 to 3pm, starting at the top of Princess Street. The event provides kids aged 7 to 14 a chance to get behind the wheel of their homemade soap box car and compete for the 2019 championship.
