Water ‘agenda’

Dear Editor:

I was shocked to read the news article in last week’s paper regarding a multimillion dollar grant to complete research on sustainable drinking water.

The project itself makes sense. What shocked me was the contribution made by Nestlé Waters Canada to the tune of $460,000. This should be viewed as a total conflict of interest and should never have been allowed.  This study should be undertaken and funded by our provincial and our municipal governments only. The water bottling industry has no business whatsoever being involved in this study. They have an agenda – to take more of our ground water for their corporate profit and they will no doubt continue to sell our water in their one-use plastic containers, further polluting our environment.

Shame on all the government officials and departments for allowing this to happen.

I think our community would be well served if an investigating journalist were to delve into this and provide our community with the names of all those government officials who allowed this.

It’s our water.
