1942 – 2019 With the morning sun shining brightly on his face, Alex Macdonald passed away at the Guelph General Hospital on Friday May 24th. Alex was the proud father of Anne and her husband Paul Sartor, Bill and his fiancé Lisa Morrison. Alex was also the proudest grandfather of Andrew Sartor. Alex will be deeply missed by his brothers Jack (Jackie), Ken (Ruth) & Earl (Carol) and sister-in-law Bernice Aitken. Respected uncle of Heather Aitken and Chris & Jeff Macdonald. Also left to mourn the loss of Alex is his girlfriend, Irene Sinclair and her daughters Glenda, Valerie, Debbie and their families. Alex was predeceased by his loving wife Ruth (nee Vrooman) 2004, his parents Percy & Pearl/Winnie, brothers-in-law Bert Aitken and Keith Vrooman and sister- in-law Leona Au Coin. The Cumnock Community has lost a local historian, musician, farmer, mechanic and home builder. If anyone needed anything fixed, as long as it was green & yellow, Alex would be right there! A true jack-of-all trades and he mastered them all! Visitation to be held on Wednesday May 29th at The Graham Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David Street South in Fergus, from 2:00 – 4:00pm & 7:00 – 9:00pm. Funeral to be held on Thursday May 30th, 11:00am at the funeral home followed by burial and reception. In lieu of flowers, donations to Groves Memorial Hospital or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by his family.
