Aberfoyle hosts Upper Grand ETFO Chess Tournament

ABERFOYLE – A board annual tradition has had another successful year.

The annual Upper Grand ETFO Chess Tournament was held on April 11 at the Puslinch Community Centre.

This year, 176 players from 15 elementary schools participated, representing primary, junior and intermediate grades. Students play each other based on grade.

The results for the tournament are as follows:

Grade 1

– First: Aberfoyle Public School; and

– Second: Aberfoyle PS.

Grade 2

– First: Aberfoyle PS;

– Second: Aberfoyle PS; and

– Third: William C. Winegard Public School.

Grade 3

– First: Eramosa Public School;

– Second: Minto-Clifford Public School; and 

– Third: Aberfoyle PS

Grade 4

– First: William C. Winegard PS;

– Second: June Avenue Public School; and 

– Third: Kortright Hills Public School.

Grade 5

– First: King George Public School;

– Second: Aberfoyle PS and

– Third: William C. Winegard PS

Grade 6

– First: Aberfoyle PS;

– Second: June Avenue PS; and

– Third: John McCrae Public School.

Grade 7

– First: Rockwood Centennial Public School;

– Second: King George PS; and

– Third: King George PS.

Grade 8

– First: Westminster Woods Public School;

– Second: Westminster Woods PS; and

– Third: Aberfoyle PS.
