Dear Editor:
An open letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, opposition leaders and Members of Parliament.
I am shocked to the core how little you personally are doing to save the Earth from climate change.
You impose a carbon tax, which is so stupid because we really don’t have the technology to make the big carbon reductions needed to save the Earth in 11 years, while you do nothing to change the way you do government.
You all in government need to stop flying around in fossil-fueled airplanes. You all take far too many airplane trips. Use the internet to conference with Canadians and the world. Skype is free to use. We could also save a lot of money this way as well. Be an example for the rest of the world’s politicians. Have a G8 meeting by Skype! That would save a lot of money and prevent a lot of carbon emissions.
My challenge to you: reduce the number of airplane trips you take by 25% this year. This includes your election campaign travel.
If you don’t take up my challenge, I will have to conclude that you all don’t really believe that climate change is the result of human caused carbon emissions or that the Earth is in dire need of saving at all.
Jane Vandervliet,
Erin
