Sensational Elora raises $120,000 in last 10 years

ELORA – Sensational Elora’a mission is to celebrate the performing, visual and culinary arts in Centre Wellington.

The festival has raised over $120,000 in the last decade for the Centre Wellington Food Bank ($10,000 in 2018) and the Centre Wellington District High School’s breakfast program, Wake-Up Centre Wellington ($1,000 in 2018).

Sensational Elora also donated over $3,300 to the Elora Centre for the Arts in the last three years.

“The festival contributes to the growth of the local economy by creating innovative and exciting programming that showcase local businesses, artists and artisans,” officials state in a press release.

“It benefits the local community by attracting visitors from across the province while raising money and awareness for the fight against poverty throughout Centre Wellington.”

“Our annual award-winning festival now organizes events throughout the year featuring the renowned music, art, film, food, scenery and unique small town character of historic Elora and Fergus,” officials state.

“Our list of events has evolved over our first 10 years, with some events dropped and we have added new events that we felt would broaden our audience and help expand our mission objectives.”

These have included Jazz at Elora Centre for the Arts, the Monster March Parade and Monster Month.

Sensational Elora is run by a volunteer board and depends on community volunteers to organize events.

The board is looking to expand, officials say.

“We require strong leadership for our various event committees, social media skills, marketing, sponsorship and accounting experience.”
