Passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at the Guelph General Hospital. After growing up in Northern Ontario, Sandra moved to Guelph to train as a nurse with the Sisters of St. Joseph and ended up meeting the love of her life, making Guelph her home. Sandra and Peter were married for 52 years and had many adventures building their family and the farm. Among Sandra’s strengths were her compassion mixed with practicality and humour, and her countless hours of volunteer work brought comfort to many. Above all else, Sandra’s passion was her family. She was the super-glue that held us together, our fiercest cheerleader, and her kitchen table a place of welcome for many family and friends. Sandra was the loving wife of Peter, the beloved mother of Rob and his wife Jennifer, Greg and his wife Lisa, and Carol and her husband Tony Jelich. “Nurse Nana” was the cherished grandmother of Rebecca (Richard), Liam, Luke, Cole, Owen, Zoey, Carson, Katherine, and Annalise. She is survived by her brothers Greg (Joan) and Jim (Carol) and pre-deceased by her brother Freeman (Lola). Her family will receive friends and loved ones at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph on Friday, March 29, 2019 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00pm. Mass will be celebrated at Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate Church, 28 Norfolk St., Guelph on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 11:00am with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Hospice Wellington or the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Cards are available at the funeral home or donations and condolences can be left on line at www.gilbertmacintyreandson.com
