Guelph music centre features Leslie Kinton concert May 10

GUELPH – Due to a Guelph Youth Music Centre scheduling conflict, the February Leslie Kinton concert at the Guelph Youth Music Centre has been rescheduled to May 10 at 7:30pm in the recital hall.

Leslie Kinton, of the acclaimed piano duo Anagnoson and Kinton is one of Canada’s best-known and most sought-after chamber musicians, officials state.

“We are so very proud to present Leslie Kinton at the GYMC again this year,” said Gabriella Currie-Ziegler, executive director of the GYMC.

“Mr. Kinton is one of Canada’s best-known and most sought-after chamber musicians and a wonderful performer.

“As an added bonus: there is no need to drive to Toronto to listen to this memorable performance.”

The concert will feature works of Beethoven, which will include Sonata op. 2 no. 2; Sonata op. 27 no. 1; Sonata op. 79; and Sonata op. 31 no. 3.

Kinton is an associate professor of piano performance at Western University.

He was born in Toronto and studied the piano with Pierre Souvairan and Boris Berline, as well as composition with Samuel Dolin.

He also studied the piano in New York City with Jeaneane Dowis and Karl Ulrich Schnabel.
