Dear Editor:
On Feb. 18, Family Day, Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington, the Town of Minto, Palmerston Lions Club, Minto firefighters, the OPP, Marlins baseball club and a committee of friends and family of Darren More hosted Darren’s Day, a family fun day, in the town of Palmerston.
It was a huge success.
Darren’s death as a result of a tragic accident has led me to several conclusions.
Firstly, I have come to have a great respect and appreciation for our police officers. I have heard the frustration in their voices, seen the compassion in their eyes. I know that they are doing their very best to keep us all safe.
Secondly, I have decided that our police officers cannot and should not have to do their job alone. I believe it behooves all of us to alert Crime Stoppers when we know someone is manufacturing and/or selling drugs. It is up to each of us to dial 911 if we suspect a driver is operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Darren was my son. He could just as easily have been yours. Please help keep our roads safe by reporting what you see and know.
Thanks to all who made Darren’s Day such a success. Thank you particularly to Minto for giving Darren a loving community and for supporting his family. He would be deeply honoured and touched.
Kate Dodsworth,
Elora
