Centre Wellington receives $587,524 from OLG

CENTRE WELLINGTON   – Centre Wellington recently received $587,524 from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG).

The payment represented the third-quarter (Oct. 1 to Dec. 31) non-tax gaming revenue payment to the township for hosting Elements Casino Grand River in Elora.

So far, during OLG’s fiscal year (April 1, 2018 to March 31, 2019), Centre Wellington has received $1.8 million.

Since December 2003, the township has received more than $30.8 million.

“OLG provides municipal partners and local charities with significant funds to enable investments in communities across the province,” said Vic Fedeli, Ontario’s minister of finance.

These payments are made under a formula in the municipality contribution agreement that determines the funds municipalities receive for hosting a gaming facility.

They are based on a graduated scale of gaming revenue that is consistent across all sites in Ontario.
