Call to artists for Minto juried art exhibition

HARRISTON – The Minto Arts Council’s (MAC) fifth Juried Art Exhibition will take place from May 2 to June 1 at the Minto Arts Gallery in the Harriston library. 

Entry is open to all artists living in Ontario and the deadline for entry is April 1. 

An entry fee of $30 includes up to three works and a MAC membership.

This exhibition attracts a broad range of artists, styles and mediums. 

Original works including two or three dimensional pieces, installation and new media works completed within the last five years will be accepted. 

This year’s show includes two privately sponsored cash awards for watercolour and printmaking in addition to first, second, third and People’s Choice awards.

Jurors 

The exhibition is juried by three artists: 

– Wesley Bates is a wood engraver who expanded to paintings in oils, acrylic and gouache, drawings, etchings, glass engravings, handmade books and letterpress work. 

Bates also illustrates for major publishers. 

– Brenda Murray is a marketing consultant with degrees from the University of Waterloo in English and Fine Arts. She is the founder of the Art District Gallery, the founder of Urban Sketchers Waterloo Region,

– Dawn Owen has been the curator of Guelph Museums since July 2017. Before she had a 19-year tenure at the Art Gallery of Guelph where she was curator of contemporary art. Owens holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, specializing in studio art, from the University of Guelph and a Master of Fine Arts degree from York University.
