Peacefully at Caressant Care Nursing Home on Tuesday, January 29, 2019. Alphonse “Al” Demarest of Woodstock and formerly of Drumbo in his 84th year. Beloved husband of the late Julienne Demarest (nee Bossy). Loved father of Robert (Penny) Demarest, Shirley (Ian) Drever and Nancy (Scott) MacDonald. Dear grandfather of Jeremy (Sarah) Demarest, Tawnyah Demarest, Cameron and Hillarie Drever and great grandfather of Madelyn and Weston Demarest. Cherished brother of Roger (Janet) Demarest, Rachel (late John) Lang and sister-in-laws Julia Demarest and Judie Demarest. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Alphonse was predeceased by his daughter Katherine Demarest and his siblings Harry Demarest, Wilfred Demarest and Ronald Demarest. Al was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, Tillsonburg Legion, and the Woodstock Navy Club. Friends were received at Smith-LeRoy Funeral Home, 69 Wellington St. N, on Friday, February 1, 2019 from 1:00 – 4:00pm and 7:00 – 9:00pm with Parish Prayers taking place at 6:30pm in the chapel. The Funeral Mass took place at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, 1420 Devonshire Ave, Woodstock on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 10:00am with Father Jude Ogbenna presiding.
