FERGUS – On the Spot Productions Fergus/Elora made a $10,000 donation to Hopewell Children’s Homes in Ariss after a successful run of Peter Pan: The Family Musical Panto in November.
On the Spot Productions donates profits from its autumn show each year to local charities.
“We’ve always felt that the purpose of On the Spot Productions is to give back to the community,” said co-owner David Tanner.
The show included five performances, 15 songs, a cast of 32 and the support of 24 local sponsors.
Hopewell Children’s Homes is a not-for-profit registered charity offering a residential, home-like setting for children with high medical needs.
While the Ministry of Community and Social Services and the Ministry of Child and Youth Services cover the basic costs of living and support staff at Hopewell, the support of donors is critical to maintain the quality of care in programs.
Next year’s production – The Wonderful Wizard of Oz: The Family Musical Panto – is underway.
“Our show is always (a) twist on a well known tale – so we write them ourselves,” said Leigha Bailey, co-owner of On the Spot Productions.
“A core group of volunteers meets monthly to brainstorm.”
Tanner said audience participation is encouraged in the shows.
