Michael Madden of Elora was out collecting the “surface” garbage along a 1km stretch of South River Road on New Year’s Day. “There is much more buried within the snow and ice,” he said. Madden wrote that on Jan. 5, walking on the same route, he was able to fill a 5-gallon pail with litter and then, on Jan. 8, another 5-gallon pail.“Saddening and embarrassing.
