It is with great regret and sadness the Sansom family announce that Jean passed away in the afternoon of November 14, 2018, at the Long Term Care facility, Village of Riverside Glen, Guelph. Jean was diagnosed with Alzheimers in 2012 and had been in LTC for the past year, as the disease progressed. The care and attention Jean received in Riverside Glen was wonderful and the family will be ever grateful to the staff for Jean to have the best possible life while she was in their care. She leaves behind her husband of 55 years, Roger, their three children, Richard, Caroline and Susan and grandchildren Charlie, Zachary, Eve and Eon, who had a special place in her heart. Jean and her family lived in Oakville since 1975 before recently moving to Elora. Jean was born in Georgetown, Guyana and was predeceased by brothers Noel, Desmond, Neville and Stanley and sister Barbara. She is sadly missed by her remaining siblings, Henry (Jean) in Niagara Falls and Margaret Schwartz, London. UK. Numerous nieces and nephews scattered around the world will no doubt miss the happy occasions of meeting and laughing with their Aunt. Jean was a loving wife and mother involved in many activities in the home, notably cooking and cake decoration and working in her beloved garden, while running a house with three children and a husband. At the same time, she was a senior Avon Lady and later resumed her secretarial work, in Real Estate offices in Oakville before retirement. Coffee mornings with friends, evenings playing bridge (with or without Roger) and dinners at home, or out, gave her great pleasure, as an outgoing, sociable person. Cremation has taken place and a gathering of friends and family to celebrate her life is planned to take place on Sunday December 2, 2018 from 1:00 to 4:00pm at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David Street South, Fergus, Ontario. Donations in Jean’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, Acclaim Health, Oakville, or the Senior’s Life Enhancement Centre, Bristol Circle, Mississauga would be greatly appreciated by the family, as all assisted in providing services to us in time of need.
