Fergus Santa Claus parade supporters and entries recently recognized for contributions to seasonal event

FERGUS – Both parade supporters and best business entries were recognized on Dec. 13 at the Fergus Grand Theatre.

Parade Support

In recognition of their contribution to the Fergus Santa Claus Parade, plaques of appreciation were presented to Sam Steegles, HR generalist, AO Smith and to Eric Goudie, theatre coordinator, the Fergus Grand Theatre.

The AO Smith parking lot serves as the staging area for the parade entrants participating in the Fergus Santa Claus Parade.

The lobby of the Fergus Grand Theatre serves as the administration office for TV Cogeco’s filming of the parade.

Business entries

Plaques were also presented to the top three business entries in the parade.

The Grand River Group parade entry was a Pooh Christmas with Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore getting the forest decorated for Christmas.

The Bookery and the Fountainhead Health Store organize the Medieval Faire, with the Rangers of Govannas providing entertainment in the summer. The second annual Medieval Faire will be held on July 27, 2019.

Centre Wellington Remedy’s RX parade entry, The Mummers, which was based on an old Christmas tradition of Newfoundland and Labrador. People wearing a costume to disguise their identity would go house to house visiting their neighbours during the 12 days of Christmas. The neighbours have the task of trying to guess the identity of the Mummers.

This year’s best three entries in the non-profit group included: the Fergus/Elora Knights of Columbus, 1st Fergus Scout Group and Habitat for Humanity Fergus ReStore.
