Dear Editor:
An open letter to the Prime Minister of Canada.
Paris has experienced riots caused by the inability of their president to understand that they cannot afford an additional tax on fuel and hence food and everything else that gets transported. These riots occurred in Paris and other cities like Toulouse and in rural communities, so they were reasonably wide spread. Many people have been injured.
Macron was initially seen as a young dynamic person, attractive to the younger voting generations. He has continually identified anyone who disagrees with him as alt-right and a nationalist. He has stated that a nationalist cannot be a patriot and so he is obviously anti-military and anti-veteran. Well his popularity has now declined severely as he is currently viewed by the French people as a socialist with little idea of how to run the country.
He appears to be considered by the French people to be:
– elitist and arrogant;
– demeaning in his approach to the working class;
– indifferent to the problems of the poor people living in rural areas;
– focussed on meeting environmental targets that he cannot possibly reach at the expense of the working people and their cost of living;
– insistent on a carbon (diesel) tax that has no hope of changing environmental emissions but arrogantly insists on pursuing it anyway;
– giving away money to foreign nations when that money could be well spent at home;
– mishandling illegal immigrants;
– running the country from his office through a few trusted friends and advisers; and
– more interested in his image abroad than in managing the economy and debt at home.
Do you recognize the above description? It might help if I mention that Macron also speaks French!!
Mr. Trudeau you should take note of the above and perhaps reconsider your approach to us, the people. The Canadian people are the kindest and most considerate people I know, but that doesn’t mean they will not become furious with you if you continue to mismanage our country, our preferred way of life and run us into more debt.
Michael Lee, SALEM
