FERGUS – Centre Wellington District High School’s social justice class will co-host the CW Community Dinner Project on Dec. 11, as a fundraiser in support of Kids Help Phone.
Kids Help Phone is a 24/7 national service offering bilingual professional counselling, information and referrals as well as volunteer-led, text-based support to young people from coast to coast.
“As Centre Wellington is at more than two times the national average for suicide, there is a pressing need to provide additional supports for our youth,” organizers state.
Vision for future
The vision of Kids Help Phone is “A future where every young person in Canada will access the support they need, in the way they need it most.”
The Centre Wellington Community Dinner Project has always been free, with donations accepted “only as one is able.”
Donations enable the project to continue to offer a nutritious free monthly dinner. For this specific event, all of the evening’s donations will go to support this valuable mental health support for youth.
Along with a chef Chris Jess dinner, the social justice class will provide a variety of children’s activities, musical entertainment, door prizes, a silent auction and a festive atmosphere.
