SWEET, Philip Edmund – Of Marden, passed away peacefully at the Guelph General Hospital on Monday, October 29, 2018 in his 85th year. Loved and cherished husband of 51 years to the late M. Jean Sweet (nee Bird, 2016). Loving Dad of Anne (Bryan) Durst and the late Robert Sweet (2015). Special Grandpa to James Durst. Dear brother to Ben, June, Sheila, Peter and Pat of England, and Paul of Australia. Predeceased by brothers Neale of Australia and John, Graham and sister Janet of England. Dear brother-in–law of Margaret Pearson. Special friend of Bob and Sally Witty. Philip was a faithful and dedicated member of the Anglican Church and his community. After retiring from a long career at the University of Guelph Dairy Research Station, he enjoyed managing the Guelph Township Recreational Park. He loved gardening and the great outdoors. Philip spent much of his time trying to make our world a better place. Special thanks to the staff at the Guelph General Hospital. Family and friends will be received at the Wall-Custance Funeral Home & Chapel, 206 Norfolk St. from 2:00pm – 5:00pm on Sunday November 11, 2018 and 10:00am – 11:00am Monday, November 12, 2018 at St. George’s Anglican Church, 99 Woolwich St., Guelph. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00am in the Church. Interment at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Reception to follow at the Wall-Custance Reception Centre.
