VAN GERVEN, Scott Arthur

VAN GERVEN, Scott Arthur of Arthur passed away suddenly at home on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at the age of 22. Cherished son of Tony and Jayne Van Gerven. Beloved brother of Marlow and her husband Riley Gorman of Durham and twin brother of Alana and her husband Chris Hilts of Waldemar. Godson of Lucy Van Gerven of Arthur. He will be dearly missed by his grandmother Marian Darlow of Pickering as well as by his many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Remembered by his four legged companions Nike and Zeus. Scott was welcomed to heaven by his Oma and Opa Van Gerven, grandpa Darlow, aunt Cathy Darlow and uncle Rob Van Gerven. In Scott’s brief 22 years, his love for life, family, people and animals, has taught us life lessons that only he knew. Scott idolized the police – their poise, leadership and commitment to helping others. His love for the police was born through his relationship with Constable Kate Carberry, a dear family friend. His true love, other than his family, was his golf cart, and he could often be seen riding it on his property proudly, with the tunes blaring, and a Canadian Flag flowing. His love for his country was proudly known by the umpteen number of Canada Flags he had fasten to his bedroom wall and grounds of his home. Scott’s collection of flashlights, batteries and cards, ensured that his family was fully prepared for a power outage. Scott was a proud teammate of Orangeville Wolves Special Needs Hockey Team from 2003 – 2014. He was an excellent judge of character and could make himself understood by anyone and was respected by all. Scott was the heart and soul of our family – a superstar in his own right. He left a lasting impression on every life he touched. Cremation has taken place. The family received friends at the Crawford Funeral Chapel, 243 George Street, Arthur on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held in the Arthur Community Center on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations to Epilepsy Canada would be appreciated by the family.  www.heritagefuneralhomes.ca
