MAITLAND, John Frederick “Jack” Passed away peacefully at Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus on Wednesday September 20th at the age of 89. He leaves behind his daughter Marnie (Rod) Kidder, mother of Ashley and Shawn Bowden; his son John (Shelley), parents of Amy, Becky, Rachel (Jordan) and John; his son Scott (Jill), parents of Connor, Taylor, and Carley; and his great grandchildren Dominic and Jackson (Ashley) and Claire (Rachel and Jordan). He was predeceased by Frances Maitland on December 15th, 2016, the mother of their children. A lifelong Holstein enthusiast and breeder, he founded Haigsee Haven Holsteins of Elora, ON, which specialized in raising, showing, and eventually exporting Holstein cattle on an international level. Jack, who was by nature a curious and kind man, was always ready with a joke and a smile and will be sadly missed. Visitation was held at The Graham Giddy Funeral Home, 37 Church Street East, Elora on Sunday September 24th from 5:00-8:00pm. A Funeral Service was held on Monday, September 25, 2017 at 11:00am at the funeral home in Elora and was followed by a time of reception held at The Elora United Church which is located directly across the street from the funeral home.
