VASIL, Michael, 1927-2016

VASIL, Michael, 1927-2016; Passed away peacefully March 26th at Caressant Care Nursing Home in Fergus, Ontario, after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimers disease. Survived by his wife Verna (Cherry) nee Woodworth, his sons Michael (Jody) and John (Tracey), his granddaughter Leah and grandson Joel. Also survived by his sister Mary and nephew Paul. Predeceased by father Paul and mother Susan. Born in Czechoslovakia, Michael emigrated to Toronto with his parents in 1929. A teenage interest in aviation and airplanes lead to flying lessons with Central Airways at Toronto Island Airport. Michael enjoyed a 34 year career with Trans Canada Airlines/Air Canada retiring in 1984. He then spent many happy hours building or rebuilding light aircraft at various sites, the last being his hangar at the Guelph Air Park. The Vasil family would like to thank the staff at Caressant Care, especially the P.S.W.’s for the respectful, compassionate and loving care that they provided Michael during his time there. As per Michael’s wishes there will be no funeral service. No flowers please. Should you wish to do so, donations may be made to The Groves Memorial Hospital, Fergus or the charity of your choice. “Oh!
