MITCHELL, James Garfield; It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of James Garfield Mitchell in his home in Orillia on August 18, 2015 in his 63rd year, after a stoic and courageous battle with cancer. He was a kind and supportive brother, uncle and great-uncle. Beloved son of the late Garfield and Lila Mitchell. Brother of Evelyn Mitchell and Larry Hurley of Belleville, Barbara and Russell Ranshaw of Port Colburn, the late Nancy Mitchell (1958), Roger and Kathy Mitchell R.R.#2 Drayton, George and Ruth Anne Mitchell of R.R.#2 Alma, Heather Mitchell and Kelly Fraser of Ottawa, Stanley Mitchell of R.R.#2 Alma, Stewart Mitchell of Teeswater and Wendy Mitchell and John Pierce of Renfrew. Fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews and many friends. Jim was devoted to his friends and family. He was always there to help or to bring new box of books to share. He enjoyed reading and cycling, and baseball. He played Right Field on the Old Budzz team for many years. The family will receive friends at the Drayton United Church, 34 Main St. East Drayton on Saturday August 29, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:30 a.m., with interment in Hollen Cemetery. Following the interment there will be a time of fellowship and refreshments at the Drayton United Church. Our family will always be grateful to Jim’s friends and neighbours in Orillia for their warm and generous friendship and for their many kindnesses. You have been Jim’s second family. We also wish to thank the kind Dr. Oerst Sochaniwsky, and the cheery caregivers and nurses who came to Jim’s home during his illness.
